Ademption by Conversation

Means the Testator leaves a specific gift and then disposes of the gift, the beneficiary may take whatever identifiable interest remains at death

Administrator/Administratix

A person appointed by Court of Queens Bench to administer the Estate of the deseaced in cases where the deceased did not leave a Will or where No Personal Representitive or Executor was named in the Will where the Personal Representitive or Executor was named in the Will but does not act.

Adult Interdependent Partner (AIP)

An adult Interdependent Partner within the meaning of the Adult Interdependent Relations Act

Beneficiary

Except where expressly provided otherwise, means a person who receives or is entitled to receive beneficiary disposition of property under a Will or to an intestacy Ex: those receiving a beneficial disposition from an Estate

Beneficiary Designation

Means designation made under S.71 (2) (a person's designated to receive a benefit payable under a place on the participants death)

Bond

A form of insurance guaranteeing the proper administration of the deceased's Estate by the Personal Representative. Not required if at least one Personal Representative or Executor is an Alberta resident, usually waived in all other cases.

Includes all children of a person regardless of whether the parents are married, includes children who are conceived and in the womb at the time of death S.1 (3). A parent child relationship in Part 1 of the Family Law Act children conceived after the death of the testator or intestate are not included in the definition as children.

Includes children under 18 eas as well as a child in the womb, grandchidren, great grandchildren an adult chld hat isunder 22 years who is at least 18yeas a the time of death and unable to earn a livelihood of mental of hysical disability S.72 [b]

Guardian

In respect of a child means a person who is or is appointed as a guardian of the child oe a person who is a guardian of the child under an order or Agreement made under the Child, Youth, and Family Enhancement Act

Intestate

You die without making a Will or not having fully disposed of all property in a Will.

Kin

Heir, heirs, next of kin or kin in respect of an individual, means a relative of the individual by blood or adoption and does Not include a relative by marriage.

Personal Representative

Means an Executor or an Administrator or Trustee of the Estate of a deceased individual.

Per Stripes

Taking by representation,that is, for example children taking the share if their deceased parents by substitution so the deceased patents share go to kids equally.
