Zhou Dynasty

- believed in the Mandate of Heaven - that just rulers had divine approval
- they said the heavens sent Zhou to replace the Shangs
- imp is government views - heaven sent them their good and bad times

- when dynasties become bad, disasters happen, people rebel and put in a new dynasty to get prosperity (sent by the heavens)
Feudalism - a way to control the cities
a political system when nobels or lords are granted use of the lands that belong to the king

In return, the nobles give loyalty to the king, military service to the king and protection to the people who live there

1) road and canals for trade and agriculture
2)coined $ started to be used for trade
3)blast furnaces for producing cast iron were built
