Thermal Breaks |
- depending on the material, ahuge amount of heat loss occurs through conduction directly through the window frame
- metals windows are now required to have a thermal break in the middle of the frame
- this is made of a high thermal resistance material (eg. plastic) and reduces heat loss significantly. |

Water resistance |
- some window types have had problems with water leakage
- new rainscreen windows are higher performance
- rainscreen design ensures that water can drain through the window |
