Status, party, and economic

Class

Relationship a group has to the means of economic production, technical skills, and educational qualification affecting their market situation

Market Situation

A term used to define a group of individuals who share a similar position and who receive similar rewards in the workplace

Economic Class

Objective sociological/political category based on market situation. Should be based on set of norms, values, beliefs, and interests

Weber's 4 Classes

A propertied class, white collar professionals, petty bourgeoisie, and working class

Goldthorpe (neo-Weberian)

Developed a class scheme which looked at job security, income, and control over work called the NS-SEC

Status Group

People who share similar level of social status--unequal distribution of social honour
