1st Verse of the Air Force Song
|
Off we go into the wild blue yonder,
Climbing high into the sun. Here they come, zooming to meet our thunder, At'em boys, give'er the gun! (Give'er the gun now!) Down we dive, sprouting our flames from under, Off with one helluva roar! We live in fame or go down in flame, Hey! Nothing'll stop the U.S. Air Force! |

Star Spangled Banner
|
By Francis Scot Key
Oh, say can you see by the dawn't early light What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming? Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous flight, O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming? And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave? |

High Flight
|
By John Gillespie Magee, Jr.
Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth And danced the clouds on laughter - silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung High into the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there I've chased the shouting winds along and flung My eager craft through the footless halls of air. Up, up the long delerious burning blue I've topped the wing-swept heights with easy grace Where never lark, or even eagle flew. And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand and touched the face of God |
