Direct Supervision
Supervising veterinarian is on the premises or in the same area on a range and is quickly and easily available.
Ex: The vet is in his office next door, in the lobby, in the lounge
Indirect Supervision
The supervising veterinarian is not on the premises, but has given written or oral instructions for treatment of the animal.
The vet is at lunch arcoss the street, or the vet is at their house; The vet MUST have already examined the animal for these tasks to fall under indirect supervision
Immediate Supervision
The supervising veterinarian is in the immediate area and within visual and audible range of the animal and the person treating the animal.
ex: The vet is in the treatment room and can see and year you clearly.
Malpractice:
Conduct which falls below the standard of care which causes injury to the animal
Negligence
A departure from the standard of care
ex: they know they should be doing something, but they are choosing not to it right away ( people who change their act after finding out what to do)
Incompetence:
Lack of knowledge of skill
Neglect
Neglects to provide a standard of care
Not following standard at all; Benign neglect is someone who doesn't know better
