What are topographical maps? |
Topographical maps show natural and man made features on the landscape. These include: -roads -structures -bridges -railway lines -power lines -hills, ridges, forests |

Cadastral maps indicate ownership boundaries of land. |

These are maps that CFA, brigade, local council etc. will produce to show their specific areas of interest. |

Detailed and fully indexed information relating to navigation by road networks in urban areas. |

What are some considerations when using Melway maps? |
-top of page is always north -map scale at top right of left side page -all pages have yellow border which overlaps next map -select the most direct route -firefighters must know the first turn when turning out to a job -avoid high traffic areas -use tram tracks wherever possible -do not blindly follow another appliance |
