Rumen

Acts as a fermentation vat. Lined with papillae & is separated into compartments by internal muscular walls called pillars, that allow selective regions of the rumen to mix and stir its contents as needed.

Aids in the mechanical breakdown of ingesta & in the absorption of VFA's.
