This word is usually placed after the subject and before the verb to express the sameness. It is NEVER placed at the beginning of the sentence.

Example:
Tôi tên là Mai. (My name is Mai)
Tôi cũng tên là Mai. (My name is also Mai)

Tôi vui. (I'm glad)
Tôi cũng vui. (I'm glad, too)
How to answer the question: "Anh có khoẻ không ?"
(Affirmative) Tôi khoẻ. (I'm fine.)
(Negative) Tôi không khoẻ. (I'm not fine.)

Không as a negative marker, is used before a verb.
Lan: Chào anh Hùng. Anh có khoẻ không?

What did Lan say?

(Give an equivalent answer)
Hello Hùng. How are you?

Literally:
Hello-Mister-Hùng. You(mister)-to be fine-no?
Hùng: Chào Lan, tôi khoẻ. Còn cô?
