Origins of the Vietnam war |
France ruled Vietnam before WW2 then it was captured by Japan. Ho Chi Minh inspired a fight for independent Vietnam against the Japanese. Once the war was over independence was declared. The French returned wanting to rule again but ho and the Viet Minh fought back. A peace conference was held after 9 years in Geneva splitting Vietnam into north and south until elections could be held. |
