What brought me to social work

What brought me to social work, is that last year I undertook Certificate IV of Youth Work and I wanted to continue my studies. I also got a better understanding in other areas that included Mental Health, Alcohol and other drugs, casework and many more issues. After completing the Youth Work certificate, I decided that I was continue doing a Diploma of Youth Work – up until a friend persuaded me to do the Social Work course, that Victoria University offered. I weigh my options, and decided that social work interested me.

These skills include communication, empathy, being transparent, being honest and having integrity, following guidelines, equity and self-awareness, on a scout camp a scout left the group and stormed off to his tent, and I had to encourage him to join the tent and got the group to apologize and welcome the Scout back. I valued his courage.
