Disk
A magnetic medium on which data are stored.
Disk Drive
The hardware that finds, reads, and writes information to and from a disk.
Disk drive icons
Identify (by letter and type) the disk drives that you can access on your system.
File
Data, text, graphics, software instructions, etc., that are stored under a single name, the file name.
Floppy disk
A small, portable disk made of flexible plastic.
Folder
A way to organize files into manageable groups.
Hard disk
A large magnetic disk that cannot easily be removed from the computer system. The hard disk and the drive are one integrated unit; sometimes called a fixed disk.
Subfolders
A folder within another folder; used to further separate groups of files within a folder.
