They provide negative feedback to the pituitary-hypothalamic axis which, in turn, stops stimulating the ovary to produce sex hormones, such as estrogen which, in turn, stimulates endometrial tissue located outside of the endometrium and uterus. |

How is endometriosis dx confirmed
|
Definitive diagnosis is based on exploratory surgery and biopsies, although endometriosis is usually initially treated based on the clinical presentation
|

Ovarian torsion symptoms
|
The sudden onset of pain and nausea, as well as the presence of a cyst on ultrasound suggest ovarian torsion
