Trace Cuban-American relations from 1959 to 1062 and explain the causes and consequences of the Cuban Missile Crisis.

The soviets were currently helping Cuba, which made us mad. The US planned to overthrow Castro by rising up the Cuban people and revolting with them, but once we got there no one wanted to revolt with us. We got embarrassed by this and planned to kill Castro instead. Meanwhile the Soviets were working very closely with the Cubans to keep them safe by bringing missiles to the island. This presence of these weapons were meant to prevent US attacks. Kennedy ordered for them to leave and the Cubans agreed as long as the US promised never to attack them again.
After this the US and Soviet relations improved and they became more friendly towards each other. They took steps towards disarmament and signed a treaty that said that nuclear tests would stop. |

Goals-for the laws to be put into practice and continue passing laws that would desegregate.
Tactics-peaceful sit-ins, protests, publicity which lead to awareness and change, voting registration. Achievements-awareness and national recognition of the issue-> created pressure for Kennedy and government to do something, Civil Rights Act of 1964 |
