What is the policy in relation to the use of Unmarked Vehicles in pursuit or Urgent duty driving situations?
|
Unmarked police vehicles without emergency warning devices must not engage in UDD or pursuit situations. It is however acknowledged that members in unmarked units may from time to time become involved in an emergency or life threatening situations. In those rare situations, it may become necessary to follow a suspect vehicle while requesting assistance from a marked vehicle equipped with emergency warning devices. When members in an unmarked vehicle without emergency equipment become aware of the presence of a marked vehicle the unmarked vehicle must disengage.
