cromplyn (Intal)

used for prophylactic treatment of bronchial asthma and must be taken daily. It is not used for acute asthmatic attacks & does not have bronchodilator properties, but instead acts by inhibiting histamine release to prevent an asthma reaction. Its most common side effects are cough and a bad taste. These effects can be decreased by drinking water before and after using the drug.

theophylline (theo-dur)

Toxicity occurs at a higher frequency with levels greater than 20 mcg/mL. used for bronchial asthma and COPD in increase the ability to breathe ( bronchodilator)

dextromethorphan (Robitussin DM)

Provides temporary suppression of unproductive cough by inhibiting cough center in the medulla.(antitussive/expectorant)

prednisone (Deltasone)

steroid used to treat severe allergies and acute asthma attacks through IV. Needs to be tapered off. More side effects.

Phenylephrine HCL (Neo-synephrine)

Nasal spray used for rhinitis. Not to be used past 3 days
