Name this elbow joint
Outside locking hinge
Name this elbow component and its indications
Positive locking hinge.
Short and longer RL TH. Depending on whether you decide to put the cable inside or outside
Name this component
AFB from OttoBock. Similar to ERGO arm
What's the difference between positive locking hinge and friction elbow
No locking/unlocking of elbow. Flex/ext controlled thru friction therefore completely passive arm. Lite duty arm
Describe how the ERGO arm works
CAM mechanism enables flex/ext
How many locking positons are there in the ERGO arm?
Infinate locking positions
What are the advantages of the ERGO arm?
"slip and stop" fxn-alternator which allows for elbow flex/ext without having to "cycle" thru locking/unlocking
Permits pathway for electronics.
Unlocks under load
Where is a base plate and retainer susposed to be located for a TH Px?
1" prox to cut end of the bone
What's the fxn of a forearm lift assist?
Added to elbow mechanism to act as excursion?? force benefit.
what are the indications for a forearm lift assist?
short TH, SD, or intrascapular amputee
How does a forearm lift assist work?
This needs to be added AND need to move the cable housing closer to the elbow axis since the lift assist with help with the force issue you can now put the cable in a position to maximize excursion (more proximal)
who is indicated for shoulder abduction joints?
Long SD
What are the 3 classifications of SD?
1) True shoulder
2) Humeral neck amp (considered long)
3) 4 quarter-intrascap thoracic (considered short)
What is a benefit of the shoulder abd joints?
Since they are adj friction it helps with ADL's.
what movements do the flexion abduction joint allow?
flex and abd. Friction controlled
what movements does the universal shoulder design allow?
3 planes. flex/ ext, abd/add, IR/ER. These units can be used as friction wrists as well
This joint is literally 2 friction wrists that are attached with a connector
Why is the Flexion Abd shoulder joint used more then the universal shoulder joint?
Not enough room for the univ. More bulky. Can use a FA with a positive locking elbow and get the IR/ER from the elbow joint.
Name this shoulder joint
What movements does it allow?
Locking shoulder joint aka-LTI Collier joint.
Friction abd and locking/unlocking flex/ext-this allows "free swing"
What is a sierra nudge control?
Elbow lock. Chin opertes
Descibe what this is.

Who is it indicated for?
Sheave design excursion amplifier. Gives you double the amount of excursion input

Shoulder disartic. amputee
what is this?
How does it work?
What is the location that you should start at?
Lift Tab assembly.
Allows you to move the cable attachment more prox/distal depeding on how much excursion you want.
25mm anterior, 30mm distal
what is this?
What is it used for?
Forearm lift assembly.

Attaches to lift tab assembly to allow for anterior/posterior movement of the cable in relation to the elbow joint
What are the effects of moving the cable attachment on a TH socket?
Moving it closer to the joint= more excursion but an increase in force is needed. Moving it away from the joint = less excursion but decreases the force needed
What are the indications for polycentric hinges on TR?
Cubital bunching due to excessive soft tissue. Allows you to fudge on the elbow center a little since it's probably difficult to locate on the fleshy patient
What are the indications for flexible hinges on TR?
Allows for supination/pronation.

Necessary for bilaterals
What are the indications for single pivot hinges?
Heavy duty users

Short TR residual limb

Protect against torque load
