What are the scapular muscles that move the humerus?
1. Deltoid
2. Subscapularis
3. Supraspinatus
4. Infraspinatus
5. Teres Major
6. Teres minor

Help support the shoulder joint by holding the head of the humerus in the glenoid cavity
Rotator Cuff=SITS

• Supraspinatus
• Infraspinatus
• Teres Minor
• Subscapularis
Which upper extremities insert on the greater tubercle?
1. Pectoralis Major
2. Supraspinatus
3. Teres Minor
Which upper extremities insert on the biccipital groove?

Also they all have ADduction and medial rotation
1. Pectoralis Major
2. Latissimus Dorsi
3. Teres Major
ARM BONE
Muscles that move the HUMERUS
O= Clavicle, sternum, cartilage ribs 2-6

I= Greater tubercle, Bicipital groove of humerus

A= Flexion, medial rotation, adduction of humerus

N= Medial/Lateral Pectoral

notes: Clavicle head flexes arm
Pectoralis Major
O= Spines t7-t12, sacral crest, ilium

I= Bicipital groove

A= Extends, adducts, medial rotation of humerus

N= Thoracodorsal

notes:Largest muscle in terms of surface area; lays on posterior side of trunk, medial rotation, EXTENDS
Latissimus Dorsi
What does Abduction of the arm?
1. Deltoid
2. Supraspinatus
What does Adduction to the humerus?
1. Pectoralis Major
2. Teres Major
3. Teres Minor
O= Acromial extremity of clavicle; acromion and spine of scapula

I= Deltoid tuberosity of the humerus

A= Abduction arm, flexion, extension, medial laterally rotation of humerus

N= Axillary

notes:3 insertions: anterior, posterior, middle
Deltoid
O= Supraspinatus fossa

I= Greater tubercle of humerus

A= Abduction of arm at shoulder (assists deltoid)

N= suprascapular

notes: Muscle that passes through supacromial space; initiates AB duction
Supraspinatus
O= Inferior angle of scapula

I= Bicipital groove

A= Extension, adduction, medially rotates

N= Lower subscapular

notes:Operates in different motion from the minor; internally rotates
Teres Major
What are the AXIAL muscles that move the humerus?
1. Pectoralis Major
2. Latissimus Dorsi
O= Inferior lateral border of scapula

I= Greater tubercle

A= Extension, adduction, laterally rotates humerus

N= Axillary

notes: Operates same way as intraspinatus but is not a section of that; laterally rotates
Teres Minor
FOREARM
Muscles that move the RADIUS AND ULNA
O= LH: supraglenoid tubercle
SH: coracoids scapula

I= Radial tuberosity, Bicipital aponeurosis

A= Flex humerus, flex forearm, supinates forearm at radioulnar joints, flexes arm at shoulder joint

N= Musculocutaneous

notes: Largest muscle w/2 heads; LH: more lateral with tendon running through bicipital groove then attaching to SG; both heads originate off scapula to humerus
Biceps Brachi
O= Distal, anterior surface of the humerus

I= Tubercle and coronoid process of ulna

A= Flex forearm

N= Musculocutaneous, radial

notes: Elbow flexion; lies deep to bicep brachii
Brachialis
O= Supracondyle ridge

I= Styloid process of radius

A= Flex forearm, partially supinates and pronates

N= radial
Brachioradialis
Which are the forearm flexors?
FOREARM=ELBOW
1. Biceps Brachii
2. Brachilalis
3. Brachioradialis
What is the forearm extensor?
Triceps Brachii
Long head: IG tubercle
lateral head: lateral and post surface of humerus
Medial head: entire posterior surface of humerus

I=Olecranon of ulna

A=extends forearm at elbow joint and extends arm at shoulder joint
O=
*LH=infraglenoid tubercle
*Lateral H: lateral and posterior surface of humerus
*Med H: posterior surface of humerus

I= Olecranon

A= Extends forearm, extends humerus

N= radius
Triceps Brachii
What are the elbow flexors?
-Biceps Brachi
-Brachialis
-Brachioradialis
Which upper extremities have the RADIAL nerve?
1. Brachialis
2. Brachioradialis
3. Triceps Brachii
4. Extensor Carpi Radialis Longus
5. Extensor Digitorum
6. Extensor Pollucis Brevis

-Form flesh part of the hand, composed of 4 muscles; little finger side

-N=Median and Ulnar
Thenar
-3 myo, O and I in hand, act on little finger

-Do things to the little finger (allow movement)

N=Median and Ulnar
Hypothenar
3 myo, O and I in hand, act on all fingers

-lies between thenar and hypothenar and work on middle of the first 3 fingers

N=Median and Ulnar
Midpalmar
