Atom-
The basic building block of matter.
Atomic Number-
The number of protons in the nucleus of an atom.
Bohr Diagram-
Diagram that shows the # of protons and neutrons in a nucleus that orbit energy levels and electrons.
Chemical Symbol-
A code for each element usually from it's name. One to three letters.
Electron-
A stable subatomic particle negatively charged with electricity.Moves in an orbit shell outside an atom's nucleus.
Energy Level-
The fixed amount of energy something has.Electrons are found around an atom's nucleus, energy level.
Family-
A group of objects unified by a significant characteristic.Verticle column on periodic table.
Isotope-
A radioactive form of an element.atoms of the same element that have different #s of neutrons in their nuclei.
Mass Number-
Total number of protons and neutrons in a nucleus.
Metalloids-
An element intermediate between properties of metals and non-metals.
Metal-
Solid material that is typically hard, shiny, and malleable, ductile, and a good conductor of electricity.Any element on the left side of the periodic table except Hydrogen.
Neutron-
A subatomic particle about the same mass as a proton;not charged with electricity.
Non-metal-
An element or substance that is not a metal.
Nucleus-
The simple, most important part in an object, movement.or group.Control center.
Period-
A set of elements occupying an entire horizontal row in the periodic table.represents energy level.
Periodic Table-
A table of chemical elements arranged by atomic number.Grouped according to similar properties.
Proton-
A stable subatomic particle occurring in all atomic nuclei.Has the same mass as a neutron but with the opposite sign.Positive.
