Reconstruction plan:




Lincoln's, Johnson's, Radical Republican plan.

Lincoln: 10% policy, forgave south, wanted to fix relationships, and didn't care much about equality.


Johnson: 10% policy, didn't want 2 forgive south but did, ratified 13th amend.


Republican: sent troops to South, protected A.A.

Freedmen's bureau and amend.

the bureau helped slaves smoothly transition to freedom. (health, education, reunite, and get jobs)


Amend. 13th,14th,15th: abolished slavery, citizenship, and voting.

Natural Disasters: Charleston earthquake felt by 2/3 americans. Over 2000 buildings ruined and costed 6 million in property damage. Hurricane of 1893 rice fields wiped out. Tabcacco became cash crops and other crops continued.
