Independant Variable
The variable that you change or select. I change these things. aka Manipulated Variable
Dependant Variable
The variable that changes as a result and that you measure, the data. aka Responding Variable
Fixed Variables
Variables that must not change so that it is a fair experiment
Control Test
A test where nothing is manipulated. It serves as a basis for comparing the other results
Research Question / Purpose
A clearly stated problem which will be the focus of your write up. This cannot be a vague statement and must be answered in the end.
Hypotheses
A statement that predicts what you expect will happen. In many labs, this will be suggesting a relationship between two variables or, in physics, will be mathematical. Be specific.
Procedure
A statement in which enough practical detail is give so that another student could read your plan and repeat it successfully.
Data Collection and Processing
A neat and accurate record of all necessary raw data.
