It is common to have two last names in Latin-American cultures. How are they determined? What is their order? What's the proper greeting? (The special rule for married women is on another card)
Father's last name followed by mother's maiden name.
e.g. Felipe Hernandez Gomez
Greeting: Sr. Hernandez or Sr. Hernandez Gomez (more formal)
How are the last names for married women determined? What's the proper greeting?
Traditionally, woman replaces mother's maiden name with "de" + husband's father's last name.
Less traditionally, mother's maiden name is retained and "de" + husband's father's last name is added at the end.
e.g. Maria Lopez (Juarez) de Hernandez
Greeting. Sra. Lopez (for either case)
