Tán shūfǎ
Mr Stone, you're Chinese is quite good (standard).
Shí xiānsheng, nǐ de Zhōngguóhuà shuō de zhēn biāozhǔn.

Nǎli nǎli, bù gǎndāng.
Who taught you Chinese?
Nǐ gēn shéi xué Zhōngwén?
I studied Chinese in the United States.
Wǒ yǐqián zài Měiguó xué Zhōngwén.
My Chinese teacher wanted us to speak and read a lot.
Wǒ de Zhōngwén lǎoshī yào wǒmen duō shuō, duō kàn.
Now that I'm in Beijing, I speak Chinese every day.
Xiànzài zài Běijīng, wǒ měitiān dōu shuō Zhōngguòhuà.
How about Chinese characters?
Zhōngwén zì ne?
Can you read and write?
Nǐ huì xiě, huì kàn ma?
I can read quite well.
Wǒ rèn zì rèn de bú cuò.
However, Chinese characters are difficult to write.
Kěshi Zhōngguó zì bù hǎo xiě.
I don't write too many.
Wǒ xiě de bù duō.
How many characters do you know?
Nǐ rènshi duōshǎo Hànzì?
About seven or eight hundred.
Chàbùduō qī, bā băi ge zì.
Not bad!
Bù shǎo.
You should study Chinese calligraphy.
Nǐ yīnggāi xué shūfǎ.
That way you might be able to start to understand where the characters come from.
Xué shūfǎ de shíhòu nǐ yě kěyǐ duō zhīdào Zhōngwén zì yǒu shénme yìsi.
For example, the character for love has a hand on top…
Bǐfang shuō 'aì' zì zài shàngmiàn yǒu yǐ zhī shǒu..
…a heart in the middle and a food on the bottom.
…zhōngjiān yǒu yí ge xīnm xiàmiàn yǒu yì zhī jiǎo.
The original meaning was that a person would take his heart in his hands…
Yìsi shì yí ge rén, zǒu hěn yuǎn de lù…
..and carry it a long distance to give to the person he loves.
…yòng shǒu bǎ tā de xīn gěi tā ài de rén.
Chinese characters are really interesting.
Zhōngwén zì zhēn yǒu yìsi!
