Meter
The number of syllables or "beats" in each poetic line.
Rhyme Scheme
The constant pattern of rhyme that repeats in each stanza:

aa, bb, abab, abcb, or aabb etc.
Rhythm
The combination of stresses and unstressed beats in a poetic line.
Free Verse
Poetry without a rhyme scheme or constant rhythm.
Blank Verse
Unrhymed iambic pentameter.
Stanza
A group of lines highlighting one idea.
Couplet
