Face and neck injuries

Face may bleed plenty due to vascular, open injuries may allow for air embolism, always provide oxygen

Types of injuries



Eyes

Vessel ruptures, for an object, thermal burns, I dislocation, electric burns, chemical burns, blow out fracture, laceration


Treatment: stabilize cover in palled object, irrigate with copious amounts of water for 15 to20 minutes

Nose:

Epistaxis : nose bleed, Deviated septum, Seabrough spinal fluid, for an object


Treatment: If bleeding heavily or leaking CSSSSMO I position up freight pinch nose and lead forward

Ear

Laceration, avulsion, by, foreign obj


Treatment: soft tissue colon cleanse with sterile saline apply dry sterile dressing


Inner ear injury: position of comfort, never remove large object, if any CSF no SMR

School fractures

Basil or skill fractures, battle sides, Lynn your skull fractures


Treatment: don’t apply excessive pressure directly on injury, bandages should not cover most of the head, closely monitor mental status

Traumatic brain injury

Primary injury is damage sustained to the brain structure


Secondary injury is from ceberal Edema, hemorrhage, pressure

Signs and symptoms of a concussion

Confusion, seeing stars, headache, tinnitus dizziness, weakness, visual changes

Intercranial pressure

Cushing triad : if showing signs hyperventilate at 20 bpm one every three seconds


Treatment: O2 high flow


Closely. Monitor mental status


2 things you want to prevent : hypoxia/hypotension

Intercranial hemorrhage


Epidural hematoma

(WORST ONE) Arterial bleed between duramater and skull


Symptoms develop suddenly, immediate loss of consciousness

Subdermal hematoma

Venus bleed between Dura Mater and brain


Symptoms develop gradually, fluctuating level of consciousness
