Chloroquine and amiodorone (antiarrhythmic)
What are the fx's of colchicine?
It is a weakly amphiphilic drug that prevents tubulin polymerization. It causes both neuromyopathy, and may induce renal failure.
What drugs induces mitochondrial myopathy? What do pt's present with? What is tricky about its sequalae?
Zidovudine (AZT). Weakness and myalgia. It may be difficult to distinguish from myopathy assoc'd with HIV infection.
What are 3 other drugs that may induce inflammatory myopathies?
Trytophan, D-penicillamine, & procainamide
What drug at 30mg/d is associated with an inc. risk of myopathy 2nd to impaired protein synthesis or catabolism?
Prednisone.

Proximal muscle weakness and atrophy assoc'd with Cushingoid appearance (moon facies, truncal obesity, hyperpigmentation)

Acute onset of severe generalized weakness.
