PROKARYOTIC Cells

Organisms: Either Prokaryotes or Eukaryotes

Prokaryotes: Prokaryotic cells are smaller and simpler E.g bacteria. A prokaryote is a prokaryotic cell (single-celled organism)

EUKARYOTIC Cells

Organisms: Either Prokaryotes or Eukaryotes

Eukaryotes: Organisms made up of Eukaryotic cells. Eukaryotic cells are complex and include all animal and plant cells

PLANT Cells

Plant cells have all the subcellular structures that animal cells have with a few more.

Cell wall: Made of cellulose, supports cell and strengthens it

Permanent vacuole: Contains cell sap, a weak solution of sugar and salts

Chloroplasts: These are where photosynthesis occurs, which makes the food for the plant, they contain a green substance called chlorophyll, which absorb the light needed for photosynthesis

ANIMAL Cells

Animal cell: Type of Eukaryotic cell with the subcellular structures below

Nucleus: Contains genetic material that controls cell activity

Cytoplasm: Gel-like substance full of enzymes where most chemical reactions happen

Cell membrane: Holds the cell together and controls what comes in and out

Mitochondria: These are where most of the reactions for aerobic respiration take place, respiration transfers energy that the cell needs to work

Ribosomes: Where proteins are made in the cell
