PPI- suppress H+/K+ atpase enzyme system on surface of the gastric parietal cell. (Food decreases AUC by 33-53%)
Take at least 60 minutes prior to eating. Swallow capsules whole, or carefully sprinkle enteric coated granules over one tablespoonful of applesauce. Ingest w/o chewing. Nexium granules should be mixed with 1 tbsp of water, stirred, left for 2-3 min then taken orally. Dose should be taken w/i 30 min of mixing. Antacids can be taken at same time. Do not double doses. Store cool/dry place away from sunlight/children.
