What is a tissue?

A tissue is a group of the same cells performing a similar function.

What are the four types of tissues?

Connective, muscle, epithelial and nervous.


What is epithelial tissue?

Epithelial tissue forms a protective covering for your innards.

What is connective tissue?

Connective tissue adds support and structure to the body and holds other tissues together.

What is nervous tissue?

Nervous tissues send electrical messages around the body. Groups of these make nerves.

What is muscle tissue?

Muscle tissue is specialised, it can change shape. They come in three types.

What are the three types of muscle tissues?

Cardiac, skeletal and smooth.

What does voluntary mean?

Voluntary means it can be under concious control of the brain, involuntary is the opposite of this.

Cardiac and smooth (cardiac moves blood and smooth makes food).

Name the three types of plant tissues and their functions?

Photosynthetic (carry out the process of photosynthesis). Vascular (made up of Xylem​ and Phloem cells and transport food and water). Ground tissue ( holds and supports the plant).
