Myxedema

T3 and T4 completely absent. Symptoms: round, swollen face, dry skin, hypotension, bradycardia. Decrease in thyroid function, removal of thyroid tissue or loss of function bc of damage to cells.

quantitative measurement of the mineral content of bone, used as indicator of structural strength of the bone.

Bone mass

A measure of the amount minerals (mostly calcium and phosphorus) contained in a certain volume of bone

Thyrotoxic crisis

Condition in older adults in which the bone density is altered so that softening and bending of the weight-bearing bones occurs.
