How are wavelength and frequency related?

Inversely; as frequency increases, wavelength decreases and vice versa.

C = Lambda * f

What are advantages of higher frequency? Lower frequency?

Higher frequency are used for a better and more accurate picture but more prone to attenuation.

Lower frequency less prone to disruption and can travel further.

How does attenuation affect electromagnetic waves?

1. Spreading: Waves spread over distance, decreasing their strength.

2. Scattering: Waves scatter when they contact hard particles or surfaces along their path of travel.

3. Absorption: Highly absorbant materials absorb waves, transferring the electromagnetic energy into internal energy.

Name four performance factors which affect radar.

Beamwidth, Noise & Sensitivity, Range Resolution, Radar Cross Section

Three types of flares.

Overt, Covert, Kinematic

List four countermeasures.

Jamming(physical and electronic), Chaff, Flares. All are combined with Maneuver.

What does MANPADS stand for?

Man Portable Air Defense System
