What are the 3 basic shapes of a pathogenic bacteria?

1. Coccus- round


2. Bacillus- rod shaped


3. Spirillum- spiral or corkscrew shape

Viruses

50 times smaller than a bacteria. Cannot live or reproduce on their own. They must aquire a host.

What are the 4 main types of hepatitis viruses?

1. Hep A- HAV- more serious in adults than children. Normally spreaded through food handling and not washing hands after using restroom.


2. Hep B- HBV- transmitted through needles, saliva, semen and vaginal fluid


3. Hep C- HCV- transmitted through blood and saliva


4. Delta Hepatitis- HDV- spreads only when HBV is present
