Menstrual Cycle

The monthly release of an egg from the ovaries and the build up and breakdown of the protective lining in the uterus.

Stage 1

Day 1 - Bleeding starts



Goes on for about 4 days

Stage 2

Days 4 to 14 - Lining of uterus builds up again

Stage 3

Day 14 - egg is released

Stage 4

Wall is maintained for 14 days until day 28 and then lining starts to break down and whole cycle begins again.
