Animal Kingdom

-Multicellular organisms

-Do not contain chloroplasts

-Unable to carry out photosynthesis

-No cell walls

-Able to move from one place to another

-They have nervous co-ordination

-Store carbohydrate as glycogen

-EXAMPLES - mammals (e.g. humans) and insects (e.g. mosquitos)

Plant Kingdom

-Multicellular organisms

-Contain chloroplasts

-Carry out photosynthesis

-Have cellulose cell walls

-Store carbohydrate as starch or sucrose

-EXAMPLES - flowering plants, such as cereal (e.g. maize) and a herbaceous legume (e.g. peas)

Fungus Kingdom

-Some are multicellular, some are unicellular

-Bodies are usually organised into a mycelium made from thread-like sections called hyphae which may contain nuclei

-They feed by dead, organic matter (saprotrophic nutrition)

-Store carbohydrate as glycogen

-EXAMPLES - mucor

Protoctist Kingdom

-Unicellular organisms

-Split into two types - algae and protozoa

-Protozoa behave like animal cell and move to find food

-Algae behave more like plants and are able to carry out photosynthesis

Bacteria Kingdom

-Unicellular organisms

-There are three types (rod shaped - bacilli) (sphere shaped - cocci) (spiral shaped - spirilla)

-have flagella to move around

-have DNA in their cytoplasms (plasmids)

-EXAMPLES - pneumococcus, lactobacillus bulgaricus
