What is the endocrine system?

A group of gland that produce hormones (chemicals) which are transported in the blood to their target organ

Name the two types of glands

Endocrine (ductless) and exocrine(have ducts)

Endocrine

Secretions diffuse directly into the blood

Exocrine

Have ducts to carry secretions. Eg. Salivary glands, sweat glands

Name a dual function gland

Pancreas ! Both endocrine (islets of langerhans produce insulin) and exocrine (pancreatic juice which goes into the duodenum via pancreatic duct)
