When and where the story takes place. There are two types of setting Pysical and Chronological.


Pysical=where the story takes place.


Chronological="when" or what time the story takes place

Character


The individuals who help the story happen. There are four main types of characters:


~Flat character (a stereotype)


~Round characters (Antagonist most of the time)


~Dynamic characters (Protagonist most of the time)


~Static Character (no change)

Conflict

There are two types of conflict:


1) External- can be man vs. nature or man vs. man


2) Internal- man vs. himself

How the story is told, more specifically, who tells it. There are many versions of POV

Exposition

The introduction of a story.

Rising Action

The events that lead up to the climax.

Climax

The high point of a story, or the most exciting part.

Falling Action

The events that occur after the climax.

Resolution

The end of the falling action and conclusion of the story.

Indirect Characterizaton

Development of a character through words, actions, or thoughts from another character.

Direct Characterizaton

When the aouther introduces the character straight out.

Irony

When a unexpected thing happens.

Foreshadowing

Hints the autor gives to show things that may happen later in the book.

Flashback

A remembrance a past event.

Mood

the way the auother makes you feel through the text.

Tone

The authors atitude.

Protagonist

The main character.

Antagonist

The character Vs. the Protagonist
