Present Tense - I do / I am doing

For regular verbs, take off the last 2 letters from the infinitive and add:

(Er) (ir) (re)

Je - e is s

Tu - es is s

Il - e it _

Nous - ons issons ons

Vous - ez issez ez

Ils - ent issent ent

Perfect Tense - 'I have played'

Auxiliary verb + past participle

Most auxiliary verbs are 'j'ai' but Mrs Vandertramp Verbs are 'je suis'. The past participles stay the same no matter the person and are:

Er ir ré

é i u

The auxiliary verbs change with the person:

Avoir Être

Je (j') ai suis

Tu as es

Il a est

Nous avons sommes

Vous avez êtes

Ils ont sont

The Imperfect - 'I used to play / was playing'

Take the present tense 'nous' form:

Jouons finissons vendons

and take off the 'ons' then add:

Je : ais

Tu : ais

Il: ait

Nous: ions

Vous: iez

Ils: aient

With words like manger, you have to add an extra e before the a or I

With words like commencer, the c changes into a c with a line coming off it before the vowel.

The Future Tense - I will play

Infinitive + avoir ending

E.g: je jouerai

Tu joueras

Il jouera

Nous jouerons

Vous jouerez

Ils joueront

It's the same for the ir and re except for re, take off the e from the infinitive first.

Future - you are going to play

Present form of 'aller' + infinitive

Aller:

Je vais

Tu vas

Il va

Nous allons

Vous allez

Ils vont

The Conditional - I would play

Infinitive + imperfect ending

(With re verbs, take the e off first)

IMPERFECT ENDINGS:

je - ais

Tu - ais

Il - ait

Nous - ions

Vous - iez

Ils - aient

The Pluperfect - e.g I had played

Imperfect of avoir / être + past participle

IMPERFECT

Avoir Être

Je (j')avais (j')étais

Tu avais étais

Il avait était

Nous avions étions

Vous aviez étiez

Ils avaient étaient

The Future Perfect - I will have eaten

Future tense of avoir / être ( for Mrs Vandertramp Verbs ) + past participle

Avoir Être

Je aurai serai

Tu auras seras

Il/elle aura sera

Nous aurons serons

Vous aurez serez

Ils/elles auront seront
