What is the traditional dualist view of the mind and body?
The mind and body both exist in two seperate realities. The body being external and the mind being internal.
What physical restraints is the body bound by compared to the mind?
The body is bound by time and space unlike the mind which is only bound by time.
Where do we have true privacy?
Within our minds. Man can only take infrences from another man's behaviour to decided thier state of mind.
What is a catagory mistake?
It is when something is placed into the wrong category. For example, a man is brought to the University or Virginia. He is shown the dorms, laboratories, the cafeteria, ect. At the end of the tour he asks "Where is the university?”. He has made a category mistake by place the concept of university in the same category as everything he has been shown. The concept of the university is an umbrella for everything he was shown. The dorms, laboratories, and cafeteria are what make up the university. The university is not a separate building from what the man has been shown.
What is Gilbert Ryle's point of view on the traditional dulaist view?
The view of mind and body is a catagory mistake in which mind and body are placed within the same catagory.
