What is the function of the vertebral column?

IT serves as the axial support of the body and transmits the weight of the body to the lower limbs.

younger kids have a higher water content-about 90%- and are spongy and compressed while elderly people's disks dry out and become less compressible

the invertebral disk dries out and presses on the spinal cord and causes extreme pain or numbness
