Culture




DEFINTION: the beliefs, customs, arts, language, etc., of a particular society, group, place, or time.




EXAMPLE: Part of my family culture is to speak both English and Spanish.







Region



DEfinition : A part of a country, of the world, etc., that is different or separate from other parts in some way




Example: My Dad works in the SouthEast region of Texas.





Human Geography



Definition: the branch of geography dealing with how human activity affects or is influenced by the earth's surface.




Example:Some examples of human geography include cultural landscapes and phenomena, such as language, music and art. Other things that are studied under human geography include economic systems, governmental structures and the study of globalization.



Economy





Definition: the process or system by which goods and services are produced, sold, and bought in a country or region






Example: the stock market system in the United States





Landform





Definition: a natural feature (such as a mountain or valley) of the Earth's surface






Example: I love the landform in Colorado it is beautiful.















Grassland





DEfinition: land covered with grasses and other soft plants but not with bushes and trees




Example: My father’s ranch has a big grassland on his land.











Climate



Definition:the usual weather conditions in a particular place or region




Example: The climate in Texas is crazy it’s hot one day and the next day is cold.

Physical Geography



Definition:The branch of geography dealing with the natural features of the earth, the home of humans.




Example: Physical geography looks at the water, air, animals, and land of the planet earth (i.e. everything that is part of the four spheres - the atmosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere.)

Adaptation



Definition: a modification of an organism or its parts that makes it more fit for existence.






Example: a modification of an organism for its parts that makes it more fit for existence.

Nomad



Definition: a member of a group of people who move from place to place instead of living in one place all the time




Example: My aunt is a nomad because she is all over the place.

Definition: to move from one country or place to live or work in another.




Example: My grandparents migrated from Mexico to live better and have a better job.

Natural Resources






Definition:materials or substances such as minerals, forests, water, and fertile land that occur in nature and can be used for economic gain.




Example: Water is a natural resource









Plains





Definition: a large area of flat land with few trees.




Example: I grew up on the Great Northern Plains of the United States.

Basin



Definition: a dip or depression in the surface of the land or ocean floor.






Example: There’s a big basin on the south side of the lake.

Escarpment



Definition: a long cliff or steep slope that separates two flat or slightly sloped areas






Example: There is different escarpments in the mountains.







Plateau





Definition: a large flat area of land that is higher than other areas of land that surround it.






Example: The plateau is different on the other side of the mountains..

Petrochemical





Definition: a chemical that is made from petroleum or natural gas.






Example: Crayons are made of petrochemicals.
