What is geography?
Geography is the study of the Earth as it is today, focusing on the atmosphere, the surface, the oceans, as well as the distribution of plants, people and animals.
What are the main types of geography?
Physical Geography, Human Geography and Environmental Geography.
What is physical geography?
Physical geography is the branch of geography dealing with the natural features of the Earth. eg, Natural disasters, water, air, animals, and land of the planet earth anything within the four spheres)
What is human geography?
Human geography is the branch of geography dealing with humans and their activity and the way they affect Earth. eg, Where we live, occupation, cultures
What is environmental geography?
Environmental geography is a branch of geography that looks at the relationship between human beings and the natural world or environment in which we live. Some of the topics under environmental geography include the study of acid rain, water pollution, the ozone layer etc.
What is pollution?
The presence in or introduction into the environment of a substance which has harmful or poisonous effects.
What are the 4 main types of pollution?
Noise, Air, Land and Water Pollution.
What is noise pollution? Give examples.
Noise pollution is the disturbing or excessive noise that may harm the activity or balance of human or animal life. eg. machines and transportation systems, motor vehicles, aircraft, and trains.
What is air pollution? Give examples.
Air occurs when odors are introduced into the atmosphere in a way that makes it harmful to humans, animals and plant. Gases, dust particles, fumes (or smoke).
What is land pollution? Give examples.
Land pollution is the deterioration (destruction) of the earth’s land surfaces, often directly or indirectly as a result of man’s activities and their misuse of land resources. Illegal garbage dumps and soil with high levels of pesticides and herbicides
What is water pollution? Give examples.
Water pollution occurs when pollutants (particles, chemicals or substances that make water contaminated) are discharged directly or indirectly into water bodies without enough treatment to get rid of harmful compounds. Pollutants get into water mainly by human causes or factors. eg, Human Trash ( wrappers, plastic garbage, etc.) - Human Waste - Chemicals dumped by hospitals and other companies ( hospitals dump test chemicals into a river).

Includes contour lines to show the shape and elevation of an area.
