Describes actions in progress. Consists of a form of "be" followed by a present participle.

Present Progressive

I AM walking, riding, being.

Past Progressive

Future Progressive

Present Perfect Progressive

Perfect Tenses

Complex time relations.


Verb in one of the perfect tenses (a form of "have" plus the past participle) expresses an action that was or will be completed at the time of another action.

Present Perfect

Action happened at an unspecified time. Cannot be used with specific times.

Action will occur before another action in the future. Action will happen before a specific time in the future.
