The vertical flats or drapes forming the sides of a false proscenium. The frontmost Legs
Scrim
a drop made of transluscent fabric. Opaque when lit from the front, transparent when backlit

A circular metal eyelet used to reinforce holes in fabric (esp. a drop or border etc. being suspended from the fly space)

tumbler
a narrow piece of wood used as a spacer when 3 or more flats are being booked (hinges must all be on back side so a spacer is needed for proper folding)

Fly Cyc
a single drop hung on a u-shaped pipe that surrounds the stage on three sides
Cyclorama
A curved, white plaster or fabric wall or drop that often surrounds the stage used for projecting lights and images.
Side tab
A drop, perpendicular to proscenium that hangs backstage of the legs to block any angle view of the backstage area
dutchman
a 5-6'' wide strip of fabric used to cover joints between connected flats in one wall unit
lift jack
A jack equipped with swivel casters used to pick up and move (grip) platforms
tip jack
Two or more large interconnected jacks equipped with swivel casters usually used to pick up and move (grip) wall units
PVC
polyvinyl chloride- cheap, durable, easy to assemble
hanger iron
Flying hardware; a metal bracket w/ a D-ring on the top. Attached to a flat, fly line is attached to the ring (often via turnbuckle)
loft block
a grooved pulley mounted on the grid. line goes over it and down to the scenery
head block
a grooved pulley mounted to one side of the stage. line(s) go over it and across to the loft block(s)
pin rail
A horizontal pipe or rail studded with belaying pins; the ropes of the rope-set system are wrapped around the belaying pins to hold the batten at a specific height
fly gallery
the elevated walkway where the pin rail is located (rope-set/hemp system)
loading platform
a walkway suspended just below the grid where the counterweights are loaded onto the arbor (counterweight system)
counterweight arbor
a metal cradle that holds counterbalancing weights used in flying
T-track/ T-bar Track
The track against the stage house wall along which the counterweight arbor runs up and down
