Nature of Pain Symptoms Chest Stuffiness or oppression that: |
- Qi Stagnation - changes in severity depending on emotional stress
- HT Qi Xu - is aggravated by exertion, accompanied by SOB, fatigue, spontaneous sweating - Phlegm Accumulation - is accompanied by obesity, cough w/copious sputum, and greasy tongue |
- Blood Stasis - stabbing, throbbing, crushing, fixed pain with purple tongue with petechiae and engorged sublingual veins
- Cold in HT Vessels - spasmodic pain, sudden onset of excruciating pain with cold limbs, sensation of suffocation & aggravated by cold - Yang Xu w/Empty Cold - aversion to cold, lying in fetal position & puffy, pale tongue |

Paroxysmal Chest Bi may give rise to irregular pulse. This is caused by:

pathogenic factors obstructing the free flow of HT Yang Qi and impeding blood circulation. Irregular pulse manifests as subjective palpitations or a palpable intermittent pulse (skipping or knotted)

Atypical Chest Bi may present as pain in the Epigastrium and can be easily confused with Epigastric pain (Wei Tong).
The onset of Epigastric pain is not age specific and is usually caused by improper diet. |
True Epigastric Pain is:
distending pain which may radiate to the corresponding region in the back Other symptoms include: nausea vomiting belching acid regurgitation |
