The priests washed hands and feet before ministering, lest they die.

Christ cleanses our sins by the washing of water and His word (1 Jo 1:9)
From Christ came blood and water (Jo 19:34)
Jesus washed His disciples feet (Jo 13: 1-10)
Reminds us of our baptism

A life of Holiness is made possible by the Word of God - the laver is a type of the Word of God. By following God's Word, we are cleansed and sanctified.
Bronze Laver
Where animal sacrifices are offered. Located just inside the courtyard. The priest lifted up the sacrifice in smoke. The sacrificed animals were tied to the horns. The horns are a symbol of power and authority and pointed to the 4 corners of the earth. Basins held the blood of the sacrifice.

The life is in the blood. Man must not use blood or partake of it. (Dt 12:23). Pour it on the ground like water.

Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins.
Christ became our substitute.
Brazen Altar
Mercy Seat - God's dwelling and throne. The ark held the pot of manna, Aaron's rod and the 10 Commandments. The Ark was placed in the Holy of Holies. The high priest sprinkled blood on the ark and mercy seat one time a year to make atonement for sins.

Christ made atonement (satisfaction) for our sins by His blood.
The Ark of the Covenant
The priests ate the bread and drank at the table.

A picture of communion. Jesus is the bread of life. We are to feed on Him (Jo 6:33 - 57). We must examine ourselves before we eat and drink from His table (1 Co 11:28 - 29)
