What is the purpose of the Main Power distribution system?

Connects the Electrical output of the main gemerator to the PJM. Output voltage of the main gemerator is stepped up from 25 KV to 500 KV via the main power transformers, for transmission to the Red Lion, New Freedom, or Salem/HC tie line, 500 KV in the switchyard is stepped down to 13.8 KV for use via the station power transformers.

Main Power Distribution Tech Spec's

3.8.1 Operating

3.8.2 Shutdown

Isophase bus cooling fans interlock?

Fand will not start unless their associated air damper is open, and the opposite train damper is closed. (Starting the isophase bus cooling fan will open the associated TACS heat exchanger outlet valve reguardless of valve control switch position)

What interlock is associated with the BS 6-5 and BS 2-6 Breakers.(Main Generator Disconnects)

If the 500 KV breakers BS 6-5 and BS 2-6 (main generator disconnects) are closed, MOD 52X60 must be open to enable turning gear operation of the main turbine.

What must be done if you pull the mechanical trip handle for the 500 KV breaker in order to restore the breaker.

Pulling the mechanical trip handle causes the control power toggle switch to open, in order to restore the breaker it must be manually repositioned.

How do we prevent the paralelling across the station power transformers.

Disconnects 4T30 2T30 24T30 are interlocked in such a way that only 2 of the 3 can be closed at any time. This prevents paralelling the station power transformers through the 13.8 Kv Switchgear.

What are all of the Generator lockout signals and automatic actions?

SIGNALS:

1. Generator Differential Overcurrent

2. Alterrex Exciter differential Overcurrent.

3. Generator Reverse Power (30 sec/2.5 sec)

4. Generator Overcurrent.

5. generator Negative Phase Sequence.

6. Generator Field Overcurrent (output Bkr X)

7. Generator Filed Overvoltage (output Bkr X)

AUTOMATIC ACTIONS:

1. Generator output breakers open and lockout.

2. Initiates breaker failure protection for the generator output breakers

3. Trips the turbine

4. Trips the exciter breaker and locks it out.

5. Alarm: UNIT PROTECTION LOCKOUT RELAY TRIP.

Unit Lockout Signals and Automatic Actions?

Lockout Signals:

1. Unit Differential overcurrent

2. Generator Neutral Overcurrent

3. Generator Neutral Overvoltage

6. Trips SWC pumps

7. Trips cooling equipment for the main power transformers

8. Alarm "UNIT PROTECTION LOCKOUT RELAY TRIP"
