It helps us to understand the text by providing additional information about the world at that time and filling in texual gaps. It also confirms the historicity of events, people and places and challenges erroneous biblical theories that lead to corrections
What can't archaeology do for our study?
It cannot prove interpretations or theological postions
What is the canon?
Orig meaning was rule or standard. It has come to mean the the books that make up our modern Bible
