Meret Oppenheim, Object (Luncheon in Fur), 1936 concieved at lunch with Picasso, intriguing but disgusting perversion of function. surrealism is a lot of gross out art, apparently. objects and reality are mutable - the addition of fur has changed the function of this cup. tea table is feminine domain - perversion of polite to rude/gross? fetishism. |

Andre Kertesz, Distortion #126, 1933 distorted the female body in surrealist tradition. used special mirrors to create distortions in his photos, like a funhouse effect. nude female used as template for artists vision, almost like ingres grand odalisque. monstrously strange looking. |
