look for signs of envenomation - local pain, redness, color change - should appear within 30 mins if no signs - observe for up to 12 hours if signs - give antivenom - dosage based on amount of venom injected not on size of human - start with 5- only do surgery and fasciotomy in extreme cases |

What is tx for dogbite?
|
If provoked - observe dog for signs of rabies + Tetanus/standard wound care - if near face(near brain) treatment is STARTED and d/c if not proven necessary

|
Try to catch animal - can kill and look in brain to diagnose rabies
-if you cant catch the animal or its near the face you need to start rabies TX (immunoglobulin plus vaccine) |
