Optic Chiasm
|
(Middle Point of the Brain) a site at the base of the forebrain where the fibers of the left and right optic nerves cross to the opposite side of the brain.

|
(2 structure in the front of the brain) structure of the forebrain involved in olfaction, the perception of odors.

Olfactory Tract
|
(stems from the olfactory bulb) A long narrow triangular band of white tissue originating in the olfactory bulb and extending back to the point at which its fibers enter the base of the cerebrum.

Cerebral Peduncles
|
(right behind mammillary body and optic chiasm) Two large bundles of nerve fibers passing from the pons forwards and outwards to form the main connections between the cerebral hemispheres and the spinal cord.

Central Sulcus
|
A fold in the cerebral cortex of the brain in vertebraes. A prominent landmark on the brain, separates the parietal love from the frontal lobe.

|
A depression of fissure in the surface of the brain.

Gyrus
|
A ridge on the cerebral cortex usually surrounded by many sulci.

Precentral Gyrus
|
The primary motor center.

Corpus Callosum
|
Connects the left and right cerebral hemispheres and facilitates interhemispheres communication. It is the largest white matter structure in the brain. (Thing in middle of the brain...larger in musicians than nonmusicians and slightly larger in lefties than righties).

Parieto-Occipital Sulcus
|
A bundle of nerve fibers (white matter), connecting the two cerebral hemispheres across the midline.
